Homemade Soy Wax Candles:
What You Need:
-1 lbs. Soy Flakes
-Wicks
-Containers
-Glue Dots
-Essential Oils
-Candle Thermometer
-Pan
-Hot Water
-Chopsticks
-Pouring Pot
1. Prep an area to make the candles. We used our kitchen table and covered it with natural Kraft paper.
2. Clean your containers and stick the wick where you want it with a glue dot. We did one wick in the center of each container.
3. Take the unused chopstick and slid the wick thru the center. Then lay the chopstick across the top of the container.
4. Take the 1 lbs. of soy wax flakes, and pour them into the pouring pot.
5. Heat the wax by placing the pouring pot in a pan of boiling water. Do not do this on direct heat.
6. Heat the soy wax until completely liquefied. We stirred ours with a chopstick to ensure proper blending.
7. Let the wax sit until it reaches 140 degrees F. Add 2 tablespoons of the essential oil of your choice, and stir with your chopstick.
8. Pour the wax into each container and fill to desired height.
9. Allow candles to sit for at least 24 hours, trim the wick, then use.
Quick Tips:
-Our containers are finds from the Rose Bowl Flea Market, but you can use any glass or ceramic container you’d like.
-We got all our candle making supplies, including the essential oil, on Amazon. This was our first time so we went the easy route and got a candle making kit. You can get all the supplies at any craft store as well.
